I've decided that I must have a bathtub shelf, and it's absolutely necessary for me to drink a glass of wine and read a book while soaking in it. This tutorial shows you how to make your own.
How awesomely delicious does everything on this table look?
I've grown fond of these flowers, the ones with the white petals and deep blue, almost black centers. I would love to know their name...
...and these cotton blossom boutonnieres are simply charming.
In an effort to improve my photography skills (which are honestly amateur), I've been trying everyday to search and anticipate moments of light. These images capture it beautifully I think.
I've been easily wooed by girly dresses lately. Anything with a collar, a pretty back, or a high waist makes me drool. All these are from ZARA.
I've been using this moisturizer from Kiehl's for about two months now, and I just love it. It doesn't have any sunscreen in it, but that's okay because my makeup does. It's really yummy.
Chris and I are seeing My Morning Jacket with Iron & Wine at the Wiltern in September, I can't wait! Here are a few of my favorite Iron & Wine songs.
Since Chris and I are working on slowly packing up all of our things for the move, I thought it was the perfect time to organize our vinyls. I've been putting off the project for some time now, so it felt good to finally get plastic covers on all of them, all 250 of them. I spent a good while making a list of all the artists and albums. Eventually I plan to alphabetize and possibly grade them. One of these days.
It was fun spending the day dusting off old records, listening to favorites, discovering ones that we forgot we even had, and dancing with the little girl. There's just something about the format that I just love, the huge covers, hidden posters, groovy artwork, the fact that you have to listen to one side and then flip it over. I just love the ritual. I'm so thankful that Chris and I have rescued so many of them from thrift stores, and given them a new home with us.
I hope you're all enjoying the first week of June. Mine's been full of lunches out with Chris, a job interview, traffic jams due to Obama's visit, apartment searching, and new shoes! I'm looking forward to this weekend, Chris and I are going on a little date to finally see Moonrise Kingdom tomorrow, and then he'll be playing a gig at the Irish pub on Saturday, I'm going to try my best not to over-embibe. It should be a fun weekend! Here are a few things I'm digging this week.
This print I found via Hello Giggles. I AM a magical unicorn pony, and so are you!
Day at the beach, bulldog and baby girl, teeny-weeny polka dot bikini. Such a beautiful little family, via Rockstar Diaries.
This portrait series by photographer Benoit Paille titled Strangers. He approaches random people in the street and on the subway, and asks to take their picture. I'm in awe of all the natural light, and the focus is so crisp and sharp. With each square composition and straightforward pose, I can't help but be reminded of the work of Diane Arbus.
I was reluctant to jump on the one-piece swimsuit trend at first, when it first started popping up a year or so ago. But now that I'm 26, I'm beginning to see the effects of gravity, so the idea of a one piece is looking more and more attractive. I LOVE this one from Mod Cloth, and when I found out it was from the line by old Hollywood actress Esther Williams, I was sold.
These bold pieces by Geodora Designs. I'm so excited to have won this lovely little necklace, from Geodora, in my first blogger giveaway hosted by sponsor Peach Tea.
I don't know if your aware of this site, but if your looking for literally hours of laughs, check it out. Chris and I got to page thirty and we were in tears.
If your house was burning down, what would you take? The Burning House shares images of individuals' most beloved possessions. I loved these two because I know I would definitely save my Frye boots, and take my kitty with me too.
Have you listened to the Monsters of Folk album?
Well, if you like Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket, or M. Ward of She and Him, then I'm pretty sure you'll be into this. All the fellas from those projects put this album together, and it's pretty awesome and has a little bit of everything. These are my favorite songs from the album.
Just wanted to leave you with a couple of sweet things for the weekend. Chris' cousins are visiting from Texas, so we're taking them down to Venice Beach today for some sun and boardwalk weirdos, maybe a beaded anklet, remember those? lol.
Last night Chris and his band Blackwood Harvest played at an Ale House in Pasadena. It was a lot of fun. I always love listening to him play his music. We had a couple of pitchers of Stone IPA, and I had a cup of Guiness Irish stew. So good! Here are some shots that I took.
In addition to being just plain wonderful, my boyfriend Chris is also a talented musician and filmmaker. He edited together some of the footage from when we went up into the canyon to take some pictures for the blog. I didn't even realize he was filming, so it's mostly of me being silly. But the imagery is just beautiful thanks to sun flares and slow motion. This awesome song is by musician Jesse Woods, he's a friend of a friend of Chris'. His other songs are quite lovely too.
Check out my boyfriend's other work: Chris Schellenbach on Vimeo.

Chris and I are of to Santa Ynez for a night to do some wine tasting and celebrate our anniversary!
P.S. Bandcamp is this incredibly cool site where independent musicians can sell their music, and you can listen to songs for free!
Found these girls last week. Their sound is so sweet and I love their harmonies. Here's their bio from Vimeo:
Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley-Taylor have been making music together since they were children, growing up in Watford, England. Brought up in a house that echoed to the sounds of Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Beatles, singing in perfect 3-part harmony came naturally to these three sisters.
And I just love the location of this video, so dreamy.
