My Grandma's Irish Soda Bread Recipe

Saturday, March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I just love this holiday. My family is Irish, so it's extra special! I went to Ireland to visit relatives in 2006, and I am just dying to go back! So, I wanted to share my grandma's recipe for Irish Soda Bread. It's so good!
She's been making it for as long as I can remember. It goes perfect with tea or coffee, with a little butter and jam or marmalade. I asked her to make a loaf for me, and I was so excited when she wrote down the recipe for me, because she has said before that she just has the recipe in the her head. So special!
Here's the recipe:
preheat the over to 350 degrees
Ingredients
3 cups flour
1tsp baking soda
1tsp salt
1 1/2 cup buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients together. Slowly add the buttermilk by hand, until it forms a ball. Turn out on a floured board and form into a round cake. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Let it cool.
Cut a cross on the loaf, to divide it into quarters. Spread butter and jam and enjoy with some tea!
