They sew, they paint, they photograph, they cook & bake, and have enough energy to share it with all of you. Take a moment to check them out!

Things I Dig: Jean Shorts

10

Friday, April 27

I have to admit that I am a sucker for jean cutoff shorts. I secretly believe that they go with just about everything, and I have a HUGE collection. I think it may have started when I worked at Abercrombie my first year of college. But I'm reluctant to wear some of them because: 1) I think I'm getting a little old for Daisy Dukes, and 2) I've been getting more into the high-waisted style shorts that last few summers. So I've been on the lookout for high-waisted vintage levi's or "mom jeans" to cutoff and restyle. And i've found that they are a lot harder to find than you would think, especially in my size. Until I find the perfect pair to makeover, here are some of my inspiration.

Refinery 29 gives some great methods for distressing jeans. I used to use a box cutter blade to shave and wear holes in mine personally.

I love all of these ideas for adding lace to your cutoffs.

How awesome are these studded shorts? I love the idea of adding studs to just one side or pocket.

I like the idea of adding panels of fabric or lace to the front. Seems simple enough.

LOVE these leopard shorts!
because i'm addicted
Hello Giggles
I hope this inspires you to go out and restyle your own cutoff shorts. I've put off this diy for a while  because I was concerned about how or what kind of fabric paint to use. But now I see that if the paint does fade or crack off it just makes them cuter an grungier. I guess the hardest part is finding/thrifting a pair that fits my booty nicely!

52 Week Challenge: #14 DIY Flower Crown

15

Monday, April 23

So, I've been seeing a lot of flower crowns lately, and I really wanted to give one a shot myself. Here's some inspiration...

Aren't all of these so pretty? Here's what you ned to make your own:
Faux flowers
Plyers with a wire cutter
scissors
Thick wire
Floral wire
Fabric wrapped floral wire
Floral tape
1. Twist thick wire into a hoop to measure your head.
2. Gather a little bunch of flowers, and cut the stems to about 2". Use floral wire to wrap around the hoop.
3. I continued to wrap the little blooms to the hoop, overlapping them so that the wire wold not show. I also changed the direction of the flowers periodically, so that it appeared fuller. Then, I concealed some of the metal wire with some green fabric wrapped wire.
4. I used a macrame knotting technique to cover my wire with yarn, I talked about the method in this post. But, a simpler way would be to cover the wire with floral tape.
